If you are registreing your child for 3 weeks only, that is to say for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th week of lessons, a $10 rebate will automatically be applied to your order. Once again, no payments will be taken automatically. We will receive your order and will verify the amount owed before proceeding with the payement.

In response to the situation with COVID-19 we are happy to announce that we will now offer our chess lessons online. We hope this will allow your children to continue learning chess with our experienced and dedicated teachers. See below for information regarding registration.

Please note that no payment will be taken automatically. If you have a credit with Chess'n Math it will be applied to your registration and only the amount due will be charged to your card if there is one. You only have to indicate in the comment section, to which activity your child was registered when you register.

 As of now you can enroll your children in our online chess lessons. See details below. Please note that a minimum number of registrations will be required to confirm a time slot. If the time slot you have chosen is not available, we will offer you other time slots that are.

The lessons will be 50 minutes long (5 minutes to connect and 45 minutes of lesson). There will be one lesson per week at the time slot selected for 4 weeks. And there will be a tournament organized once a week for each level.

You can renew your registration every 4 weeks, or, until the current situation changes.

The deadline to register is 24 hours before the lesson is to take place.

After we have received and processed your registration you will receive an email with all of the detail to connect to your lessons.

Here is the info for the levels.


BEGINNER

Level 1 - Introduction (CMA Pawn equivalent):

Introduction to the movement of the pieces - Know the movement of the pieces, the goal of the game and the basic rules such as the initial position and the chessboard.

The introductory course is mainly aimed at children aged 5 to 7 who have never played chess or are just starting out.

AND

Level 2 - Beginner (CMA Knight equivalent):

Learn castling, the en passant move, the mat in 1, the pat, the elementary mat 2 rooks against king. This course is for:

- children who have successfully completed the Introduction / Pawn level course.

- OR children who already know how the peices move.


INTERMEDIATE

Level 3 - Intermediate (CMA Bishop and Rook equivalent):

- Get to know some basic tactical themes.

- Know several mat patterns.

- Learn the elementary mat king and queen against king, king and rook against king.

- Get an idea of ​​openings.

This course is for:

- children who have successfully completed the beginner / Knight level course.

- OR children who already know castling, the en passant move, the mat in 1 move, the pat, the elementary mat 2 rook against the king.


ADVANCED

Level 4 - Advanced level 1 (CMA Queen and King equivalent):

- Review the mat with Queen, and the mat with Rook

- Understand and be able to recognize the different cases of nullity.

- Learn the basic principles of openings, understand the activity concept related to the pieces

- Deepen the study of combinations by working on new tactical themes: sacrifices, elimination of a defender, double attacks, discovery attacks.

This course is for:

- children who have passed the Intermediate / Bishop and Rook level course.

- OR to children who already know the basic tactics and schemes of mat, elementary mat king and queen against king, king and rook against king

AND

Level 5 - Advanced level 2 (equivalent to Intermediate and Advanced CMA levels):

- Become familiar with the mechanism of a pawn's escort in the final.

- Complete the study of the most advanced tactical themes.

- Understand certain strategic aspects of a position (pawn structures, exchange of pieces).

- Study certain defense maneuvers (retreats, exchanges, counter-attacks).

This course is for:

- children who have passed the Advanced course 1 / Queen and King level.

- OR children who already know the study of combinations by working on new tactical themes and using a formal introduction to the concept of sacrifice
