Has your son or daughter completed the CMA Curriculum? Are they taking private lessons with a chess instructor but have no one to practice their new skills with? Is your child self taught but wants to put their skills to the test? Then the weekly online chess tournaments with Youth Chess League are for you!
Each 2-hour session, players will be paired with opponents to play in a 3-round SWISS tournament. These games will be submitted for the CMA rating at the end of the 5 weeks.
Time: 1:00 to 3:00pm
Dates: June 13, 20, 27, July 4, 11
Where can I find my child's rating? If your child has participated in a created CMA tournament before, then their rating can be looked up at the following link using their CMA ID or First and Last name: https://chess-math.org/ratings
Do I need to create a lichess.org account for my child? Yes. It must be created before your register for the Club as their User ID is requested during registration. You can create a lichess account here: https://lichess.org/signup
How long will I have to wait to see the tournament results on the chess-math.org website? Please allow us 2-7 days to upload all tournament results at the end of the 5 weeks program. We will send out an email to participants when results are ready to view.
Will there be a prize for the top 3 finishers of every group? No.
When does registration close? Registration will close at midnight on Thursday, June 11, 2020
What are the time controls for the tournament? 20 minutes with a 3-second increment
When will I receive instructions on how to join the tournament? Information will be emailed out to participants the week leading up to the start of the Youth Chess League on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday (Please make sure to provide a valid email address during registration.)
