Lichess Guidelines for Chess Players

Your use of Lichess is subject to these Terms and Conditions. If you are not willing to be bound by each term or condition, you may not use Lichess anymore.

 

 

 

How to accept the invitation to your Lichess class

  1. Log into your Lichess account (created by either yourselves or by Chess and Maths Association)
  2. Open the email with all the instructions (including Zoom link) that we sent to you in which you will find the invitation link – see images below.

Note: if you don’t find an invitation link, it means that you are already in the class.

    

 

How to access weekend tournaments

  1. Log into your Lichess account (created by either yourselves or by Chess and Maths Association)             
  2. You must have accepted the invitation to your Lichess class (or are already in your class).
  3. Notice your new notifications – see image below

  1. Click on the notification icon to have access to the weekend tournament links – see image below
  • You can also access the tournaments by going into your Lichess inbox.

Note that the invitation link to your Lichess class appears all the time at the bottom among all your notifications.

 

How to go into in your class after having accepted the invitation

  1. Log into your Lichess account (created by either yourselves or by Chess and Maths Association)
  2. You must have accepted the invitation to your Lichess class (or are already in your class).
  3. Go to your class by doing the following – see image below.

 

How to throw a challenge to a friend that is in the same class as you

  1. Log into your Lichess account (created by either yourselves or by Chess and Maths Association)
  2. You must have accepted the invitation to your Lichess class (or are already in your class).
  3. Go into your class – see image below

  1. Click on “Jouer” or “Play” beside the name of the player you want to start a game with – see image below.

Note: You can challenge a player in your class if only that player is also online (if a green cercle appears beside his/her name).

  1. Choose the right parameters.

Note: What’s shown are examples of parameters. Please select the parameters given by your teacher or referee.

  1. Click on one of the kings:
    1. Click on the white king if you play white
    2. Click on the black king if you play black
    3. Click on the king at the middle for a random color

  1. You will see the following
    1. While you are waiting for your opponent to accept your challenge – see image below on the left.
    2. When your opponent has accepted the challenge – see image below on the right.

Note: White plays the 1st move!

    

 

How to throw a challenge to another chess player

  1. Log into your Lichess account (created by either yourselves or by Chess and Maths Association)
  2. Search the player by typing his/her Lichess ID – see image below.

  1. You should see a cercle beside the player’s name.
    1. Green cercle is green à the player is online
    2. White cercle à this player is currently offline (not connected on Lichess) 

  1. Put your mouse anywhere in the red box (see image on the right) and then click on the “challenge” icon – where the red arrow points at on the image below.

  1. Choose the right parameters

Note: What’s shown are examples of parameters. Please select the parameters given by your teacher or referee.

  1. Click on one of the kings:
    1. Click on the white king if you play white
    2. Click on the black king if you play black
    3. Click on the king at the middle for a random color

  1. You will see the following

    2. When your opponent has accepted the challenge – see image below on the right.

How to accept a challenge from your opponent

  1. Log into your Lichess account (created by either yourselves or by Chess and Maths Association)
  2. Notice a new challenge such as the following – see image below.
  3. Put your mouse anywhere inside the red rectangle on the image below.

  1. Click on the green check icon and you can start the match – see image below.
