Here's how to add an exciting new element to your school chess tournaments!

Chess ratings are one of the tournament organizer's most valuable tools. Ratings appeal in the best way to a young player's competitive spirit. Ratings are a numerical means of comparing the relative strengths of chessplayers. The more games a player wins, the more rating points he or she gains. More points are received for defeating a strong player than are given for defeating a weak player. Ratings are calculated using a precise mathematical formula.

Sending in results often keeps kids enthusiasm up. To add this extra element of interest to your school chess tournaments is very simple. All you need to do is report the results of your tournament to the Chess'n Math Association (CMA):

  • Scholastic events from anywhere in the World can be rated!
  • There are no membership cards to buy!
  • Enter your tournament yourself and pay only a rating fee of $0.75 plus taxes (since Sept. 2024) per player per event!
  • OR pay a rating fee of $1.50 plus taxes (since Sept. 2024) per player per event and we will enter your tournament for you.
