Scholar's Mate magazine is temporarily on a break during the pandemic.

We'll be back when tournaments and classes return to normal.

Hopefully that won't be too long.

SCHOLAR’S MATE is a chess magazine written specifically for kids.
You can enjoy it on-line, for free!

The Chess’n Math Association publishes Scholar’s Mate four times per year as a PDF document. You can read the “e-magazine” on your computer screen or print it out.

Each issue is full of puzzles, tournament reports, instructive articles, and stories with Kiril the Pawn and his pals. The editor and main contributor is national master Jeff Coakley, author of the successful Winning Chess For Kids books. Almost every page has a cartoon drawing by noted illustrator Antoine Duff.

Don't miss the fun. Check out Scholar's Mate today!

Scholar's Mate - Canada's Chess Magazine For Kids

You can read the magazine directly on our website or download it for viewing at any time with the free Adobe reader program. Past issues are available too.

Scholar's Mate is also published as a DNL document (for Windows and Mac Intel), with pages that appear to turn! To open that type of file, you must install the free DNL Reader.

When the DNL file opens, you can click on the X at the bottom of the magazine to close it. If you click on the button to the left of the X, the magazine will be the only thing on your screen. Use the arrows at the bottom to turn the pages. The DNL file cannot be printed.
