Instructions and rules for the Montreal's Summer Trio

1st ROUND AT 12:00pm (Eastern Standard Time) – 5 rounds @ 12pm; 1pm; 2pm; 3pm; 4pm

INSTRUCTIONS AND RULES

Here is the information you will need for the First tournament of Montreal’S Summer Trio which will take place on Sunday September 19th, 2021.

You will be playing ON LICHESS.ORG with the username you provided us when you registered

  • LOG INTO ZOOM WITH YOUR OWN NAME (PLAYER NAME, EX: Virginie Roux)
  • PARTICIPANTS WHO DO NOT CONNECT TO ZOOM CAN BE REMOVED FROM THE TOURNAMENT
  • IMPORTANT READ – FAIR PLAY: Online tournaments are based on the integrity of all participants. Please note the following rules: During any stage of the tournament arbiters may require players to join them on a separate ZOOM call and share their screen and activate their cameras. Regular Chess’n Math Association tournament rules apply. Competitors may not have outside assistance, either from another player or computer – our arbiters verify the games and our software can detect this. The Tournament Directors will penalise a result that used outside assistance. All games are recorded automatically. The arbiters’ decisions are final.
  • PARENTS AND COACHES IMPORTANT: Please note that once your child/student's game has started you should keep a distance of at least 3 meters from them until the end of the game

  • PAIRINGS WILL BE ONLINE APPROXIMATELY 5 MINUTES BEFORE EACH ROUND.
  • TIME CONTROL: 15 MINUTES + 5 SECOND INCREMENTATION


HOW TO PLAY YOUR GAMES:

  1. LOG IN LICHESS: to your Lichess Account!  https://lichess.org/login 
  2. TO PLAY:  Players must "Challenge" each other. THE PLAYER WHO HAS WHITES INITIATE THE CHALLENGE. IF THE PLAYER WHO HAS WHITES DOES NOT INITIATE THE CHALLENGE IN THE FIRST 5 MINUTES FROM THE BEGINNING OF THE ROUND, THE PLAYER WHO HAS BLACKS CAN INITIATE THE CHALLENGE (choosing blacks)
  3. FIND: your opponent's username - it's every round, at https://echecs.org/current-pairings - If it's your turn to challenge COPY this username.
  4. GO: to Lichess's Search Bar - on Top Right, next to your Username. Click on the little magnifying glass.
  5. PASTE: in your opponent's Username & CLICK. His profile appears. Click on the 2 crossed swords icon.

  1. TO CHALLENGE: Select "STANDARD". Time:  "REAL TIME". Minutes: "15", Increment: "5". Select "RATED" and finally click on YOUR king's colour Black if you are black or White if you are white.

  1. YOU MUST: accept the Challenge for the game to begin. Both clocks will start.
  2. GAME over, wait for the next round’s pairings to be available online 5 minutes before the next round, it is not necessary to report your results.
